Summer Soulstice

For this interactive storytelling space, I invite you to slow down and share a small piece of yourself.

You might write about a memory from the neighborhood, a person who has shaped you, a moment that made you feel connected, or a hope you have for Russian Hill and our community. There is no right way to participate. A sentence, a story, a drawing, a poem, or even a single word is enough.

My hope is that this space helps us remember that every neighbor has a story worth telling, and that when we share them, we begin to know and care for one another a little more deeply.

Ease into the day with a gentle community stretch and yoga circle in the middle of the court. Bring a mat or towel and join neighbors for light movement, deep breaths, and a peaceful start to Summer Soulstice surrounded by celestial chalk art, sunshine, and the Curious Soul community.

Grab some chalk and help transform the court into a colorful, celestial work of art. Add stars, moons, suns, messages, doodles, or your own masterpiece alongside our giant Curious Soul chalk mural and community creations.

From 12:00–4:00 PM, enjoy live DJs spinning sunny, feel-good music throughout the afternoon. Expect laid-back neighborhood energy, dancing in the street, and the perfect soundtrack for chalk art, creative writing, and summer fun.

Bring your favorite homemade banana bread to share in our friendly neighborhood bake-off. Whether your recipe is classic, chocolate chip, nutty, or a treasured family secret, all are welcome — and everyone gets to taste, vote, and celebrate together. Judging concludes at 5:00 pm and a winner will be named.

From 5:00–8:00 PM, gather for live bands as the sun begins to set over Russian Hill. Enjoy an evening of local musicians, community dancing, and great music filling the court with views of Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge in the background.

Create your own small bouquet at our flower arranging station, filled with fresh blooms, greenery, and simple supplies. We invite neighbors to bring a few flowers or a bouquet to share as a donation so we can create something beautiful together. Stop by to arrange your own, connect with a neighbor, and take a little piece of Summer Soulstice home with you.

Refresh your closet, share what you no longer wear, and help make sure great clothing finds a second life in the neighborhood. Bring clean, gently used pieces to exchange with others, discover something new-to-you, and donate any remaining items to local community organizations. It is a simple, sustainable way to connect with neighbors, reduce waste, and make sure clothing continues to be loved.
